Clarendon Hills Hickinbotham Vineyard Old Vines Grenache 2003
|Region||Australia, South Australia, Clarendon|
Situated just across the road from the Clarendon Old Vines Grenache Vineyard but on much harder ground facing north. The wine here is quite austere in its youth developing slowly but positively. Always shows lots of spice on the nose, marzipan also, and a palate which is long and tightly focused with abundant white pepper and Asian spices in the aftertaste. This wine needs cellaring to unravel all of its mysteries.
Ripe and luscious, beautifully balanced to keep it on its toes, dancing delicately through a long finish, offering plum, cherry and red peppercorn flavors that don't quit. Drink now through 2010. 800 cases made.
This is a thick, rich, delicious Grenache that has mocha, chocolate and coconut aromas and a berry basket full of flavors on the palate. The feel is velvety, and it pushes all the right buttons, but it’s built more for the near term than for the cellar. Drink now and over the next five years.
