Michele Chiarlo Barolo Cannubi 2017
|Region||Italy, Piedmont, Barolo|
Intense aristocratic, complex with notes of dried petal rose, liquidize and sweet tobacco. Taste is ample, rich with a texture of long, sweet tannins with outstanding harmony on the finish of the taste.
Aromas of truffle, ripe black-skinned fruit and leather lead the nose. On the savory, velvety palate, enveloping, polished tannins accompany raspberry jam, blood orange vanilla and licorce before closing on an earthy hint of salted game. Drink 2024-2032.
Mint, cherry and tar flavors mark this fluid red, whose structure is lively and present without being overly assertive. Light-bodied and lingers on the finish. Best from 2024 through 2039. 365 cases made, 120 cases imported.
The 2017 Barolo Cannubi is dominated by overripe red cherry fruit, hard candy, leather and sweet spice flavors. The challenges of the warm, dry growing season proved to be especially severe here. This is a rare miss from Chiarlo.
