The 2019 Etna Rosso is far from your average Nerello Mascalese. It boasts a deep ruby color with purple hues, while bursting from the glass with a spicy mix of crushed cherries mixed with lavender, dried roses and a hint of exotic citrus that boggles the mind. While energetic in feel, this saturates the palate with tart red fruit and inner floral tones, all balanced by a core of saline-infused acidity. There's a tannic bite through the finale that slows its momentum a bit, as the 2019 finishes structured and long, leaving inner lavender tones and hints of licorice to mingle. This needs a little time to unwind, but it is packed full of character.
