Many documents prove that the Povero family has worked in vine growing for many generations and the passion, the art and the culture of farming has been transmitted from father to son. In 1964 this heritage has been taken by the brothers Giovanni and Michelino who, encouraged by the very good quality of that harvest, set out to bottle their own wine and established the "Cantine Povero". The high quality of their production and the professional ability allowed a rapid development of their activity so that in 1976 Cantine Povero had to move in a new and bigger building the current one, surrounded by luxuriant vineyard and always located in the territory of Cisterna d'Asti. To meet the needs for quality of a market always looking for high standard wines nowadays Cantine Povero select the most suitable vines grown on the hills in the areas with the best characteristics and quality of the grapes is higher.
The use of modern technologies in the cellar and the care with they follow all the phases of wine making, from ripening to the refining of the best lots of wine in oak barrels grant the wines of Cantine Povero an high quality standard and allow them to offer the connoisseurs a complete range of the best wines of Piedmont.
