There are a scant 55 cases of the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon The Poet & The Muse, which comes from Oakville (there's a small amount of Cabernet Franc from Pritchard Hill) and was brought up in 85% new French oak. It's a stunning success in 2017, its dense purple color followed by a rocking bouquet of cassis, lead pencil, tobacco leaf, gravelly earth, and spice. Deep and full-bodied, it displays terrific balance as well as beautiful purity and sweetness of fruit, which can be hard to find in 2017 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. It's certainly up with the top wines in the vintage, has both power and elegance, and is going to have two decades or more of longevity.
